Emre Eraslan is a PhD student in the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He serves as a graduate research assistant at the Human eXtended Reality Interaction (HXRI) Laboratory and has actively contributed to several CREATE VR initiatives over the past two years. His work spans participant recruitment, user interviews, and technical support for studies such as the VR Pilot and VR Preference projects.
His research broadly focuses on cyber-physical human systems and the integration of human factors into eXtended Reality (XR) technologies. His master’s work explored shared control architectures for pilot-autopilot systems and human-machine interaction in quadrotor UAVs. Currently, he is developing custom VR applications tailored for older adults, ensuring usability through human-centered design principles. He is also leading the development of a virtual reality-based swarm drone simulator for emergency and rescue scenarios, and an augmented reality-based endotracheal intubation simulator aimed at delivering high-fidelity medical training.
In addition to his research, Emre has served as a teaching assistant for a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including IE340, SE310, ME200, ME320, TAM212, ECE515, ECE517, and ECE528.
