Emre Eraslan is a PhD student in the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He serves as a graduate research assistant at the HXRI Laboratory and has also been a teaching assistant for various undergraduate and graduate courses, including SE310, TAM212, ME200, ME320, ECE515, ECE517, and ECE528. His master’s research focused on cyber-physical human systems, including shared control architectures for pilot-autopilot systems and human-machine interactions in quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles.
Currently, Emre’s research explores various applications of eXtended Reality (XR) technologies across different age groups. One of his projects involves developing an augmented reality-based endotracheal intubation simulator designed to provide a high-fidelity training experience. He is also working on a virtual reality-based swarm drone simulator that integrates control systems and human factors. Additionally, Emre is investigating human factors in virtual reality applications aimed at older adults, with a focus on enhancing cognitive, social, and activity engagement skills.
