On February 16, 2024, the McKechnie Family LIFE Home welcomed students from the Industrial and Systems Engineering program as part of the 2024 Institute of Industrial Systems Engineers (IISE) Regional Conference for Middle Eastern Students. IISE is a key player in advancing industrial and systems engineering, and this event was a student-led initiative offering professional, social, and service opportunities to University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign students. Both undergraduates and graduates participated in the visit, which featured a tour highlighting ongoing research projects, advancements, and the evolving landscape of the industry. Dr Mahajan, a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Health & Kinesiology, gave a talk about the McKechnie Family LIFE Home and introduced the top-notch research studies to the students. Later on, our lab members Emre and Jacob made a demonstration with a virtual reality headset for the CREATE VR project. Engaging with researchers and state-of-the-art robotic technology, students gained valuable insights and discussed potential applications in their own work. The visit sparked a vibrant exchange of ideas, fostering hopes for future collaborations. The LIFE Home team expressed delight in hosting this successful segment of the conference.
