Professor Gupta has received the James Franklin Sharp Outstanding Teaching Award in Industrial Engineering!
This award is open to faculty members of the Department of Industrial & Enterprise Systems Engineering who excel in teaching undergraduate industrial engineering. The Sharp Outstanding Teaching Award in Industrial Engineering was established through a philanthropic donation by Dr. James Franklin Sharp of New York, New York, originally from Chester, Illinois. Dr. Sharp earned a BSIE from the University of Illinois in 1959 and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. He held faculty positions at Rutgers and NYU and worked in management at AT&T before founding SHARP SEMINARS in New York. This organization became a leading provider of training for the three-year Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Exams.
Professor Gupta expresses his heartfelt thanks to the Department Head, the Awards Committee, and especially to his incredible students. He reports that it is difficult not to be enthusiastic about teaching when we have such passionate and dedicated students.
